What happened
The Google crawl stats report is once again missing a day of data, this time September 15 (or a day later for some users in different time zones). That said, this has happened many times before, and Google usually restores the data eventually.
JW perspective
Google has been updating its algorithms frequently lately. On one hand, its AI product lineup is gradually taking shape, giving Google a bigger lever to counter threats from competitors or potential competitors; on the other hand, in the AI era, a diversified service offering is what gives this ecosystem giant a safer moat. It may look like just one day of data failing to update, but judging by Google's handling and response, this doesn't look like an ordinary data delay — it looks like a problem caused by Google's product planning and gray-scale testing for new offerings. The above is solely the JW perspective and does not constitute any advice.
